Longfields Station Tunnel Mural
The pedestrian tunnel underneath the Longfields transit station is a vital link between the northern and southern parts of our community. It is also a missed opportunity.
The bare, utilitarian walls in the tunnel don’t have to be. Not if we imagine something better.
We’ve done something similar in the past: In 2023, the Barrhaven BIA commissioned local artist Robbie Lariviere to create wraps around traffic control boxes.

In 2024, the Barrhaven BIA “partnered with 3 local high schools… to create 5 new unique designs” to wrap 18 more traffic control boxes.
These small touches make our communities more beautiful and help give them a sense of place.
A mural in the Longfields station pedestrian tunnel would do the same thing, just with a much bigger canvas.
